The SeasonalReview™

5 Fundamentals + One Operator = Your Business

One season back. One season forward. The strategic read that runs above the period.

The SeasonalReview™ is the rung of the Review family that operates on the season, not the period. Four periods back, read as one arc. Four periods forward, planned as one arc. The strategic layer that sits above period management — where menu strategy, daypart strategy, capital decisions, and operational positioning actually live.

Most operators plan the next season the same way they planned the last one and wonder why the seasonal patterns keep repeating. The SeasonalReview™ treats the season as the unit that carries strategy, and reads it accordingly.

Who

You are running a functional operation across multiple periods and you can see that some of what is producing your results is above the period. The seasonal pattern that carries through every year. The daypart shift that only reveals itself across three or four periods. The competitive pressure that shows up seasonally, not monthly. The capital decisions that need to be made at the seasonal cadence, not the period cadence.

If you want one period read, that is The PeriodReview™. If you want the whole operation read, that is the OffsiteReview™ or the OnsiteReview™. The SeasonalReview™ is scoped to strategic pattern — the layer above the period, below the annual.

Scope

One completed season back — typically four 28-day periods, read as one arc. One upcoming season forward — planned against what the read revealed. Prework is always required and contextual to what the read will need to draw from — the season’s rolled numbers, the mix and labor trends across the periods, the competitive activity in the market, the strategic decisions already made or already deferred.

Session cadence is contextual. Some SeasonalReviews are one intensive working session. Some run across two or three sessions with reads in between. The pacing follows the strategic weight of what needs to be worked.

Reads

  • The seasonal patterns the operation produced — what repeated, what shifted, what emerged for the first time
  • The strategic mechanisms driving the season — menu positioning, daypart mix, cast structure, capital allocation, competitive posture
  • The decisions across the season that moved the operation strategically and the ones that only moved it operationally
  • The seasonal reads other operators in your market are producing and how yours reads against theirs
  • The specific strategic moves for the next season — positioning, capital, menu, daypart, cast

Get

Working sessions with me on Zoom. A written strategic read of the season — the arc, the mechanisms, the framework diagnosis of what the season produced and why. A written strategic plan for the next season — the moves, the sequencing, the leading indicators, the decision points that will need to be made across the periods to keep the plan intact.

The read is strategic. The plan is strategic. Both live in the same document because seasonal strategy is one piece of work — read backward, planned forward, at the layer that carries the leverage.

Investment

Investment for the SeasonalReview™ is $6,500 per session. The SeasonalReview™ credit applies toward the first period of any subsequent Coaching or Consulting engagement. One credit per client. Does not combine with any other offer.

Not

Not the operational read of the period — that is The PeriodReview™. Not the whole-operation read — that is the OffsiteReview™ or the OnsiteReview™. Not annual planning — the annual arc carries different work than the seasonal. Not a marketing plan. Not accounting. Not financial, tax, or legal advice. This is strategic diagnosis and strategic planning at the seasonal cadence, with the framework applied to what the season actually carries.
