Definition #
Bucket 2 in [The No-Read]. A cast member who knows the standard and normally performs to it, but is temporarily unable due to offline life circumstance — health, family, financial, mental, situational. Not a training problem, not indifference; a capacity problem rooted outside the restaurant. Time-bound by definition.
Family #
Bucket 2 of the three-bucket cast-performance triad surfaced by [The No-Read] (sibling to [No Knowledge] and [No Commitment]).
Why Behind the Thinking #
Originated as the third category Jeffrey added to what began as a two-bucket diagnostic (don’t know / don’t care). Named [No Bandwidth] for the capacity word — finite, recoverable, descriptive — and anchors the three-bucket parallel grammar (No + mass noun): [No Knowledge] / [No Bandwidth] / [No Commitment]. Open questions still unresolved: what the operator signal should be that the bucket call should change (a hard window of 30/60/90 days, or judgment per situation); whether [No Bandwidth] requires documentation or stays a private operator-cast conversation; and how the cast member is informed of which bucket they’re in, if at all. The operator move is intervention in favor of the cast member: adjusted schedule, time off, resources, whatever the situation needs. Bandwidth returns; performance returns. If it doesn’t return, the bucket call changes — collapses to [No Commitment], or back to [No Knowledge] if something fundamental shifted.
Pairs With #
[The No-Read] — the parent diagnostic that surfaces this bucket. [No Knowledge] — bucket 1 of the triad. [No Commitment] — bucket 3 of the triad. [Operator’s Read] — the discipline of which [The No-Read] is a failure mode.
