Why Behind the Thinking #
Triggered by a Yugo/Corvirtus email rejecting “people don’t care” as a misdiagnosis; Jeffrey rejected that rejection — indifference is real. Naming progression before landing on the locked term: [No Care] (composition fail — bare noun reads truncated) → [No Engagement] (rejected — adopts the vocabulary of consulting-firm soft-frame engagement surveys, the very instrument the rule rejects) → [No Will] (sharp, volitional, but rejected) → [No Commitment] (locked). Commitment was chosen because it names a chosen state rather than a measured metric, composes cleanly as a mass noun, and refuses soft-frame reclassification — you can’t engage your way to commitment; it is offered or withheld. Open questions: whether [No Commitment] should pair against a named soft-frame instrument like [Engagement Survey] as the rejected diagnostic axis; what documentation discipline applies to the termination conversation; and how the operator communicates the bucket call to the cast member at termination, if at all. Indifference here is a chosen state, not a survey finding. Soft frames (consulting-firm engagement instruments, culture-survey diagnostics, “they’re disengaged, let’s coach them”) attempt to dissolve this bucket into something fixable.
