Definition #
A Perspective discipline that distinguishes the position a person states (the surface) from the interest underneath it (what the position is protecting).
Family #
Canon. Perspective fundamental. Section 1.OR.27.
Why Behind the Thinking #
Every position the operator encounters in the building has an interest underneath it — the vendor who won’t budge on price is protecting a margin or a precedent, the cast member who resists a new standard is protecting their sense of competence, the investor who keeps raising the same concern is protecting confidence in the operator’s judgment. The operator who resolves only positions manages the symptom and wonders why the same conflicts recur; the operator who reads underneath manages the cause. The frame shift is not a negotiation tactic — it is a seeing discipline: the position is the noise, the interest is the signal ([perspective_recompiled_07.08.2026.txt]).
