Why Behind the Thinking #
The read that is not captured is the read that never happened — the intelligence a shift produces evaporates by shift’s end unless an instrument holds it. The three fields force completion, which is thinking, not filing: Problem must be named precisely enough that someone else could identify it without context; Evidence must include both stage-side (real-time observation) and numbers-side (lagging instruments) indicators; Solution must be a testable proposition, not a to-do item — and a completed entry becomes the initiation of an [R&D Brief]. A single logged read is useful; a body of logged reads compounds into a dated, sequenced record that lets the operator trace a pattern back to its origin. The Road 1 operator destroys this intelligence every shift; the Road 2 operator banks it, and the operator two years into the discipline is making decisions on evidence the reactive operator burned.
