Why Behind the Thinking #
Without [Authority To Execute] granted, [Accountability Demand] cannot legitimately run. The operator’s work is to make sure every role in the building has the authority needed to be accountable for their piece of the Guest Experience — train the reach, equip the reach, position the reach, then demand the reach be used. Operators who skip that first part run [The Scapegoat Model] instead of [The Real Accountability Model]. The rename itself is instructive: “physical” implied bodily or mechanical reach, when what the term actually named was the authority dimension of a role’s responsibility — a role can carry full accountability for an area (FOH, BOH, TOH) yet have no real authority to execute against it, and that mismatch, not any physical limitation, is what breaks accountability. Renamed on Jeffrey’s instruction: “we need to rename the [Physical Power] to something more accurate” — because “physical” read too narrow (bodily reach) for what the term actually meant. Jeffrey then locked the definition: “its defined by the authority needed to execute real responsibility,” and sharpened the frame: “the roles each have areas of responsibility. foh, boh, toh…which may or may not include an accountability piece. thats the entire issue. can a role execute their ‘responsibility’ with accountability but no authority? the answer is no.”
