Definition #
The failure mode when a role is reduced to a noun-task instead of running its verb. If the role can be described with a single noun-task, the role has already been reduced.
Family #
Principle. Connected to [Role As Verb] — reduction is what happens when the verb collapses into the noun.
Why Behind the Thinking #
Collapsing role to noun-task kills the verb because being cannot be faked by doing. The cast member who runs their role as a noun-task (server = delivers plates) produces transactional behavior. The cast member who runs their role as a verb (server = hosts, reads, connects, recovers) produces relational behavior. The reduction is not a decision — it is what happens by default when the verb was never built into the role.
