Definition #
Ch 11 OP. Diagnostic anchor for the four-layer KRA→KPO→KPA→KPI stack folded in. Operator failure mode: latching onto a single piece of business vocabulary (typically KPI) without the surrounding structure. Operators hold the slogan, drop the scaffolding, and run the operation on a word.
Family #
Ch 11 OP. Pairs with [Folding OP] / [Wrong OP] under Rule 1.12 architecture — the KRA→KPO→KPA→KPI stack is the diagnostic vocabulary; [Non-Named Numbers] is the OP that names the failure.
Why Behind the Thinking #
The operator hears “KPI” in a meeting or a course, adopts the word, and starts using it as if the word alone constitutes the diagnostic. But a KPI only means something when it sits inside its full stack — the KRA (key result area) it belongs to, the KPO (key performance objective) it’s measuring progress toward, and the KPA (key performance action) that produces it. Drop the scaffolding and the operator is running the operation on a slogan rather than a structure.
Pairs With #
[Lost Opportunity Tax] (spoke #75 — promotion candidate), [Everything Is An Investment] (spoke #80 — companion principle), [The Outcomes Formula] (canon #12 — outcome as verdict), [Folding OP] / [Wrong OP] (Rule 1.12 architecture), [The Fundamental That Ain’t] (same failure mode at different altitudes).
